Family Evaluation Specialist

Description Georgia MENTOR is seeking a Family Evaluation Specialist who is responsible for the education, engagement and selection of prospective Mentor candidates. The Specialist collaborates with program operators to identify the needs of children and adults referred for services and to assure a clinically appropriate pool of licensed host homes is available for matching, as well as identifies the safe, secure and nurturing Host Home living environments in alignment with The MENTOR Network’s mission.
Engagement of prospective Mentor candidates:
o Maintains a pipeline of prospective Mentors to assure sufficient candidate flow and maintains contact with candidates throughout the process
o Facilitates initial information session for prospective Mentors to describe the role and responsibilities of a Mentor
o Conducts a preliminary evaluation of the candidates’ ability to meet minimum requirements of a Mentor
o Assures all required documentation is collected to conduct all background screening, including references.
• Selection and education of prospective Mentor candidates:
o Completes the initial home inspection to assess the appropriateness of the physical environment
o Conducts all required in-home interviews with the candidate and all people living in the home
o Completes a written Home Study/Psychosocial Narrative to document the findings of their assessments of candidates
o Recommends or disqualifies candidates for final disposition
o Facilitates and/or participates in Pre-service Orientation sessions.
o Remains the primary contact for the newly approved Mentor until the point of first placement
• Establishes positive working relationship with program operations by attending joint meetings and mutually sharing information regarding foster homes and substitute care homes, including program meetings to match referrals to approved Mentor homes.
• Develops and maintains working knowledge of all licensing and regulatory requirement and company policies related to screening and selecting Mentors.
o Develops Mentor Records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements
o Maintains accurate data in required computer systems
o Completes and submits reports as required
• Performs other related duties and activities as required
Qualifications: JOB REQUIREMENTS
·Bachelor’s degree in human services field preferred
·Three years related experience required
·An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements
·Current driver’s license, car registration and auto insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services
·Other credentials as required by state
