Highly rewarding opportunity to work with children and families addressing emotional, behavioral or medical complexities as a Mental Health Therapist with Alabama Mentor’s treatment foster care program.  Support foster families through therapeutic services to foster a healthy attachment between children and their caregivers.

Working with an incredible team of professionals, coordinate the development and implementation of treatment to referred adolescents and their families.  Oversee all services provided to individuals and their families, ensuring the quality of care delivered, and monitoring compliance with regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide counseling for stress, adjustment, behavioral, emotional, and social difficulties.

  • Ensure clients are engaged in their respective treatment and in the treatment process.

  • Assist parents in developing trauma-informed parenting skills to better meet the needs of children in their care.

  • Monitor programs for Network, state, and federal regulatory compliance.



  • Master’s degree in social work or related field.

  • LGSW or LPC required.

  • Experience in trauma-informed care preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly with young people.

  • A Good Listener with an ability to empathize while still providing guidance.

  • Strong organizational skills and documentation skills in managing your own schedule.

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.

  • Since Therapists often provide transportation to individuals, owning a registered and insured vehicle is required.

  • Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks.
